Volunteers Help Out Over the Weekend – December 14-16, 2012

On Saturday, December 15th, four TCNJ volunteers, including three Bonner Community Scholars, volunteered at Union Beach, NJ from 8:00am to 3:00pm. They cleaned up trash that had been washed up by the storm and picked up other debris that was cluttering the local beach. They also volunteered with the Union Beach Fire Department, where they helped sort toys for Christmas toy drive run by the community. The toys will go to families and children who were affected by the storm and may be unable to purchase their own gifts this year. The efforts in the Union Beach area are being coordinated by FEMA in collaboration with community organizations such as the Fire Department. FEMA is working to meet the needs of the local residents with volunteers, shelter, construction assistance and more.
