As part of it’s Pre-College Program, the Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement and the TCNJ Here for Home Campaign brought 30 students to Point Pleasant, NJ to help in recovery efforts after the area was affected by Superstorm Sandy. The students helped rebuild, paint, and beautify recreation areas in the town and got the chance to speak with local residents about their experiences regarding the storm and their hopes for recovery.
Maura DiCorcia, the volunteer coordinator in Point Pleasant sent the following message after the group left on Friday, July 12th:
Once again I would like to thank you and the students you sent to us today. They arrived on time Kayla was wonderful she took charged and dispersed the students accordingly and they got the job done. I just spoke with the woman who runs the park program and she was thrilled with the jobs they got done, their being here and helping inspiried our town dpw guys to finish the bocce ball court that is an accomplishment!
